gffa:
What’s killing me about this is how I feel this radiating energy of THIS ISN’T FAIR off Vader, even when he’s behind the mask and he knows better than to say anything.
How many times must Palpatine have told Anakin that he was special, that he deserved more, that his actions were justified, even when he cut a path of destruction to get at what he wanted? How many times must Palpatine have told him that he should be allowed to just do whatever he wanted, that someone should make others do the right thing and he was right to be resentful when people told him he needed to watch out those he hurt in the process? How much must Vader have told himself that he could do whatever he wanted now that he was a Sith Lord?
Yet here he is, kneeling and being deliberately humiliated, so much worse than anything he suffered as Anakin Skywalker, so much crueler and colder, the promises that Palpatine dangled in front of him now nothing but lies.
“You gave the Inquisitors to me.” Vader tries to object, it’s so easy to read an undercurrent of petulance there, of being infuriated that he’s being dressed down because he handled things the way he wanted to. Told to kneel even when he’s already standing well below Palpatine, it’s just one more time that he’s being shown that Palpatine lied to him the entire time.
Vader sacrificed everything to gain this power, that was the whole fucking point to his deal with the devil, and now Padme’s dead, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka are gone, there’s nothing to live for and he wants to die but no one will kill him, and even the power that Palpatine promised him is being dangled in front of him and then yanked away. How furious must he be?
